They have been talking about this for years, and by they I mean we, and by we I mean Apple fans. The question is how do we deal with the “tossing it” and the “just laying around” factors? My main concern is not how well they will work, or whether people will want to use something with no keyboard as their main computer, those are no-brainers actually (read: iPhone’s success) but with no lid or feet or stand, I can just see it getting trashed way too quickly.

I have to think about this more, but I’m concerned about the shelf-life. Think about the accessory market NOW folks, and get your invention together, prototyped, and ready for sale by March. There’s always a market for stands when something fragile and awesome hits the market with no stand. I’m still trying to come up with the perfect way to watch a video on the iPhone in bed or on the plane, hands-free.

That said, if the price is actually under a thou, I might have to start saving… that image of the hands playing MIDI notes into GarageBand in the bottom part of the picture is VERY intriguing.

I thought it’d be interesting to note that in fact, Erika and I did purchase an iPad a couple months after they were released, and she has been using it every single day since. It’s truly a remarkable device.
